Child Development Objectives

PHYSICAL HEALTH: To understand healthy and age appropriate physical well-being. To gain knowledge about their self and how people live.

HEALTH KNOWLEDGE & PRACTICE: To understand healthy and safe habits and practice healthy habits. To regulate their own emotions and behaviors, take care their own needs appropriately and demonstrate knowledge about self.

GROSS MOTOR SKILLS: To increase control of large muscles for movement, navigation and balance. To learn moving, balancing and gross motor manipulative skills.

FINE MOTOR SKILLS: To increase control of small muscles that are used for things such as self care, using utensils, building and exploring.

SOCIAL RELATIONSHIPS: To understand how to interact appropriately with adults and peers. To establish and sustain positive relationships and respond to emotional cues. To make friends and participate in groups and cooperate. To learn to balance needs of self and others.

SELF-CONCEPT & SELF-EFFICACY: To understand that one is capable of successfully making decisions, accomplishing tasks and meeting goals. To help child regulate their emotions and behaviors, take care of their needs appropriately and demonstrate knowledge about self.

SELF-REGULATION: To understand the ability to recognize and regulate emotions, attention, impulses and behavior. To help manage their feelings and follow limits and expectations.

EMOTIONAL & BEHAVIORAL HEALTH: To develop a healthy range of emotional expression and learn to use positive alternatives to aggressive or isolating behaviors.  To learn to participate cooperatively and constructively in groups and solve social problems.
